- Lettuce prefers cool weather. Select a location with full sun or part shade in hot areas. Sow in early spring and fall, or winter in mild climates. Make a shallow trench about 1/8³ deep. Place seed tape in trench and cover firmly with soil. Keep soil evenly moist for best growth.
- Plant every two to three weeks for continuous harvest.
Lake Valley- Lettuce, Salad Bowl Green
This heirloom farm stand favorite features large, notched, lime green leaves that hold sweet flavor in hot weather. A rapid grower and slow to bolt (send up a seed stalk). Salad Bowl Green is a leaf type lettuce that does not form a head. It won an All America Selections Gold Medal in 1952.
