- Sow in early spring as soon as soil can be worked. Leeks prefer full sun, fertile soil, and consistent water for best growth. Roots are shallow, so keep them well-weeded to prevent competition.
- Hill dirt up over the base of the plant during the growing season to increase the size of the white, edible portion. Do not cover the leaves.
