Redbuds are an amazing and varied species of tree. They evolved in the boundary areas of forests, but the last twenty years have seen an unprecedented evolution in the species thanks to cultivation by humans. Redbuds now come in many shapes and sizes with weeping trees for small spaces (4'w x 6'h) and trees in almost every size in between up to 30 feet. Colors vary from oranges, yellows and greens, reds, purples and burgundy. There are even amazing variegated  trees like Carolina Sweet Heart and Alley Cat.
