Habitat Requirements For A Ferret
- SUBSTRATE: Pellet or recycled products. NEVER USE CEDAR FOR EVERY DAY LIVING. Cedar has too strong of a smell and unhealthy to their lungs
Ferret Diet
Ferrets under 6 months should receive moistened food. Provide fresh water at all times and a high quality ferret food containing at least 20% fat and 34% accrued protein and a maximum of 4% fiber. Use small amounts of fatty acid supplements for healthy skin and coat.
Water: Fresh water at all times.
Toxins: DO NOT feed Ferrets dairy products.
Grooming
Outer ear should be cleaned with ear wash. Full body baths are on a need to basis. The more you wash them the more they will smell. Nails should be cut every 2 to 3 weeks.
Special Notes
Allow the ferret to have at least 1 hour of supervised running time outside of cage and make sure there is nothing they can get into (i.e.: recliner, small holes in wall, etc).
